Kawaii Japanese Things : Exhibition Showcasing Works By Past Shoujo Artists

As part of an exhibition running from April 5 to July 1, the Yayoi Museum in Ueno will be displaying super kawaii items with designs by famous Japanese shoujo artists such as Ado Mizumori, Katsuji Masumoto, Macoto Takahashi, Masako Watanabe, Rune, and Setsuko Tamura.
The exhibition traces the history of how "kawaii" emerged in the Taisho period (late 1920s), exploded onto the scene in the Showa period (1960s-70s) and has now become a quintessential part of Japanese culture and society.
